Two entries...

...in one day. I must be feeling ambitious o.O

Or maybe it is that I am trying to distract myself from the baby migraine that is currently attempting to hatch...I tried lying down, but I am feeling restless, therefore I shall annoy...er, grace you with my presence.

So I can now say that I have seen and read Watchmen. Unfortunately I have to also say that I am not a big fan of the graphic novel or the movie o.O The graphic novel is tedious. That is really the only word I can apply to it. Now I do not mind complex, but to me it was not complexity that was brought to mind, but merely tedium, sort of like wading through mental mud half the time while reading it. The movie was better in that respect...but not exactly spectacular in my opinion. It was merely...eh! The movie cut to the chase quicker than the novel...so it avoided the mud, but it does not stand out in my mind either.

So sorry if I am offending any big fans out there...but I do not love it. I barely like it...

The only thing about either that I am thrilled with is Rorschach...I guess that may say something about me. Not sure what though ;P

Squee...

...had a lovely weekend with Sabe ^.^

The weather was glorious so we got to go and wander about the wilds for a while on Saturday afternoon and enjoy it. Unfortunately I left my camera at home so no pictures :P

Sunday we took Hurricane Callie outdoors for a while...she is adorable and made of squee! She played with every leaf and stick that dared move in her presence. She also discovered that trees are climbable and that one can use them to stretch and sharpen claws ^.^

Other than that there was Mexican food, BSG, and a horror movie which ended up more comedic than scary... Oh, and we learned that soup controls the weather :P

...was most merciful and forgiving about the indignities of surgery that were visited upon her.

She started yelling for me the minute she saw me at the vets office and spent the drive home nuzzling my fingers throught the door of her carrier.

Once we got home she greeted Trow with licks on the head and a good round of play.

She slept curled up by my shoulder all night.

I have been forgiven...

It is official...

...my days here are numbered. I turned in my notice yesterday. I am hoping that they will not take the stance that since I am working a half-day before the Thanksgiving holiday and took the 30th as a vacation day I do not qualify for my holiday pay... *sigh*

I talked to one of the HR people about it and it is not clear yet...

Either way...I are done ;)

I have made up a little list of things that I need to get done for moving. Stuff like change of address and so on. Did I mention that at times when I have a lot of things going on I am a list-maker? It comes partially from my need to keep certain things organized and partially from my anxiety that I might forget something vital o.O

I have been batteling some sort of the common plague. It was bad enough to keep me at home Friday...and tempting to stay home on Monday. I slept most of Monday afternoon...excepting the parts where Jim brought me a blizzard and when Sabe called.

Today I pick Hurricane Callie up from the vet after work...I hope she is not too put out with me for leaving her with strangers who then promptly remodled her innards o.O

She came throught the surgery okay though... ^.^

Happy Halloween...

...the Celtic new year has begun.

Not too much excitement this weekend. I was sick on Friday and since I had the time off left I called into work. Spent a lot of the day asleep.

Yesterday I ended up meeting with the car guru to get Gin's brakes fixed. He did the front brakes which were growling like an ill tempered dog and warned me that the rear ones will probably go before winter is out. *sigh* I also still need a new set of tires in the rear...*bleh*

Last night we had a get together at Saja's for Halloween. The pictures of the evening are posted on my Facebook. We had a great time filled with pizza and random conversation ^.^

Today I did nothing too ambitious...mostly finished my laundry and bummed around the house. I have a low level, nagging headache that seems to resist the painkillers I have thrown at it so far.

I reserved movers for my move to Wisconsin at the end of the month earlier this week. We are still waiting to close on the house though...it did get delayed. Hopefully that will happen sometime this coming week.

Keep you fingers crossed for Hurricane Callie this week she goes in to be spayed on Tuesday...

Mixed Nuts...

Mostly I am happy and contend with my life these days...

...I still do not enjoy my current job, but since I am about to move away it is not such a drag anymore since there is an end in sight. Unfortunately I would feel a little better if I already had a job in Madison. I hope that being there will enable me to intensify and speed up the process of finding something just a bit.

...I am impatient to go. The constant separations that Sabe and I have to live with currently are wearing for both of us. I am looking forward to not having to think about one of us having to leave in a few days, hours, minutes when we spend time together.

...I am sad because I am leaving behind friends and family here...but they are only a phone call or a 5 hour drive away from where I will be.

...I am happy because Sabe's peeps have been really welcoming and accepting at including me in his social circle. This makes moving away from the things I know and am used to a lot easier.

...I am worried cause we were told today that there may be a delay in the loan approval for the house cause they are overly swamped in loan apps.. o.O This means there could be a delay in the closing...if the buyer is willing to work with us. *worries*

...things are busy. Trying to plan for a move across a 5 hour distance takes a little more work. Moving with pets is always a task. Moving a fish tank is a delicate procedure...and so on. That being said we are making reservations to have my stuff moved asap.

...Gin is in need of new brakes. This will take place Saturday. The car guru is ready to do battle yet again.

...Next week Hurricane Callie has an appointment to go in for surgery. Time to have kitten spayed. They are going to keep my baby overnight >.<;

...I am a little worried about Patton. He has lost some weight. He is, however, still acting spry and happy.

...other than that...planning for Halloween fun with my peeps. We are having a get together at Saja's on Saturday night with foodings, gamings, drinkings, and whatever else we decide to do.

I miss Sabe...

Normality...

...is all relative. Anyhow, things have balanced out somewhat...my family is working through the loss of Talia. My mother is having a hard time as they were very close. My brother has his ups and downs...it is more real since the services at the beginning of the week.

A lot of the townspeople came to the visitation & paid their respects. Bobby was very touched by the sheer amount of folks that loved his little wife.

It has been a long week...even though I only worked three days of it, Friday could not arrive soon enough!

There are a couple of birthdays to celebrate this weekend. Lisa's is actually today but we are not able to hang out until Sunday evening to commemorate the occasion. My cousin's birthday is tomorrow...so there is the two-fold visit to my mother's house to check in on everyone and to wish Jasmin an at least somewhat joyful birthday.

I am also going to lunch with Ember tomorrow and hanging out with Saja sometime on Sunday.

Have not seen Morgan recently...but Jim reports that she is doing much better. I will have to call her and poke at her soon.

I am also starting to look into my options for moving. It looks like I will be leaving Des Moines the weekend after Thanksgiving. I will say one thing, moving is not only annoying, but also costly o.O

Sabe is coming to visit next weekend...why is it not next weekend yet? :P

The best laid plans of mice and men...

...this was supposed to be a weekend of joy and celebration. It started off well...even though Sabe was exhausted when he got here he was a good sport and allowed Jim and I to drag him to dinner at a busy restaurant in our neighborhood.

Saturday was the day we went to celebrate the new house together...which was lovely. Dinner at a Thai restaurant, watching episodes of the first season of BSG together. However, when I checked my phone in the evening before bed things took an abrupt turn :( There were several messages from my mother. There was an emergency and I was to call asap.

The call was bad news. Sabe and I did not get to bed, instead we went and joined my family at one of the local hospitals. My brother's wife had suffered an aneurysm...there had been massive bleeding and increase in intercranial pressure. By the time they arrived with her at the emergency room there was nothing to be done. Talia was gone...braindead. She was 23, a mother of two small children and the love of my brother Bobby's life. She spend the night being kept on a ventilator so people could say their goodbyes. On Sunday morning they turned off the machines at my bother's request and Talia was gone in body now as well as in spirit.

Sabe stayed with me and even stayed an extra day to lend my family and I support and comfort. Words can not describe how grateful I am that he was with me and that he stayed to to give me comfort!

Tomorrow, is the viewing at the funeral home...

Goodbye Talia...

Boredom...

...slow day at work. I am bored...and there is little to do. I may actually leave early o.O

Had a lovely dinner with Jim and Kate last night. I made bean soup and cornbread. I love cooking and I enjoy it all the more when there are people to appreciate my effort. I especially love soup...so much that I have various recipe books on just that type of dish alone. This time of year is just the right weather for hot, yummy soups and stews ^.^

Lisa's birthday is coming up...we have vaguely discussed going for sushi. However, no exact plans have been set yet.

The plans for celebrating our fortune in house hunting are all set for this weekend. My boy is going to arrive on Friday and he, Jim and I are going to go to dinner at a neighborhood restaurant. Then on Saturday we are heading to Ames and going to The Spice, which is a great Thai place, for our celebratory dinner. I am very much looking forward to seeing him this weekend.

We have talked about my moving right after Thanksgiving...but if I get a job offer before that I will move earlier.

^.^

Counting down...

...the last few minutes before I can flee from work.

Slow day today...luckily...since my co-worker ended up being gone.

Talked to a guy by phone today for a possible 3 months contract to work for Invitrogen. It would not be lab work...but it would be decent pay with a potential for full time.

My weekend was a little off...to many of my friend peeps are having difficulties for me to feel happy & content. Morgan_chan is really struggling. Bless Jim for being there to help her out along with myself. The Sajaness is having personal upset as is Ember_chan. Jim apparently was attacked by the tooth fairy and lost a crown O.O

Do not get me wrong...I am happy cause of getting the house, and everything being okay with it in the inspection. I also have the most amazing boy-person ever!!! However, I am sad cause my friends are sad...wish I could do more...

I think everyone needs kitten therapy. I wake up every morning now to:"Thrum, thrum, thrum..." and happy paws kneading my back or whatever bodypart Hurrican Callie has found accessible.

Speaking of kitten therapy...time to go home and gets some ^.^

Houseness

So when I was up in Madison over last weekend there was a two-fold purpose. The main part was to celebrate Sabe's birthday. Which we did with a party, good friends, food, drinks, a kitten, and cake on Saturday evening. Sunday was my day to spoil my boy for his birthday...which I accomplished by taking him out to lunch, a movie, some birthday gift shopping, and making him a dinner :)I aM Our second purpose was to look for a house...and boy did we ever succeed! We found a great house, made an offer and were accepted. It was inspected today and I am happy to say there are only a couple of very minor things we need to fix ^.^ We are also planning on updating the kitchen to our tastes, finishing the fence to go all the way around the yard, and putting a bar into the finished basement theater/rec room.

<img height="212" border="0" width="320" She missed Trow...but had a lot of fun meeting all the people that cooed over her at Sabe's party ^.^ She also likes the way tomatoes taste apparently...she will lick them quite enthusiastically but not eat them. She loved Sabe's big beanbag...it made noise when she jumped in it and ran across, that and empty paper bags = best toys ever O.O So yes...it looks like it will be moving time soon...

Which witch is which...

Went and got to see "Wicked" last night ^.^ Saja and her mom had extra ticket and were kind enough to invite me along. It was pretty marvelous. I read the book a couple of years ago and really liked it...I have wanted to see the musical ever since (which is saying a lot cause I do not usually get into musicals). We all enjoyed the show immensely.

I think one of my favorite lines in the entire thing was when the male main character professes to be "genuinely selfinterested and deeply shallow"...

Tonight I pick up the rental car for my trip to Madison this weekend. I am leaving tomorrow around noon or so...which should put me at Sabe's around four or five.

We are having a party for Sabe's birthday and we will also be looking at houses. There plans for some shopping and of course lots of quality time ^.^ I can not wait. It has been almost three weeks since we saw each other for labor day weekend...

Callie is traveling with me :) She is such a well-adjusted kitten...friendly, outgoing, and playful. I adore our cat ^.^

I got nothing...

...there isn't much going on there.

Felt sickly last night after Jim and I indulged in some Burger King. Feeling digestively better, but overall a little drained today. Did laundry...napped...listened to an audio book...cooking some dinner...probably watching some movies. Exciting I know o.O

Sabe is in Chicago this weekend visiting with friends. He offered me the the chance to come along...but the logistics did not work out right on that one.

So for your enjoyment I shall post some kitty pron...this is our kitten Callie. The pics were taken by Jim...

Callie like the proper child of computer nerds is attracted to said machines. Here she is warming her behind on Jim's laptop. She was about 9 weeks old in this picture.

Callie after climbing into a back of Mr. Trow's kitty litter o.O

Is is my babygirl at about 12-15 weeks now...slowly becoming a cat *sigh*

The supermarket had a special on kittens with purchase :P

*Yawn*

Slow Sunday afternoon here... I completed my laundries this morning and went foraging at the store for the weeks supplies. Cleansed the litter box of demons...but other than that I have been pretty lazy.

The entire weekend has actually been kind of low key. Mostly running errands and hanging around the house. Last night Jim and I had Morgan join us for some dinner and a movie. It was a good time. At the moment we are waiting for the Saja to make an appearance to keep us company for a bit.

Sabe and I are compiling a list of houses to look at when I go up on the weekend of his birthday. I am rather excited about going to get to see some of these places. We have found some that look rather awesome from what can be seen on the pictures.

It is so amazing to be in a relationship with someone that is supportive of me...I have never quite had that before. I was often the one holding up the other person and giving support when it was needed. It is a great feeling to know that when I trip up and stumble Sabe will actually be there to help me catch myself if I need him...

I am still not good at asking for help...I have a tendency to try and do it on my own cause that is what I am used to...and sometimes I let it go to long and then I am in a real mess. I am trying to be better about this ^.^

Headdesk...

...it may be an exercise in futility, but I called our former landlord to see yet again about our deposit o.O Mind you we have been completely out of the house since the end of July...

I got a surprise when I called today...a lady answered the phone and informed me when I asked for Don (the property manager) that he is no longer with the company O.O So I asked her about our deposit...and she had no idea. Then she talked about things that had to be replaced in the house. Wait...what?! I explained that those things were broken when we moved in (blinds, scratches on the wood flooring...and so on). I mentioned that Don received a listing in writing from us of all the things that were wrong when we moved in. Then she backpedaled and said she needed to look at the file... *sigh* I am beginning to wonder if we will ever see any of this deposit >.<

Other than that I am currently still struggling majorly with my finances...due to some unexpected expenses, my own recklessness (or perhaps that should be stupidity), and an overdraft I made a mess O.O *oops*

Had an anxiety attack this morning at work... *hooray* My boy rescued me...I called him and he talked to me til I was sane again.

Chocolate Experience...

When Sabe came to visit over labor day he brought me a couple of lovely surprises...my favorite picture of us in a nice frame for on my dresser...and chocolates.

The chocolates were not just the kind you sit there and om nom nom...they were Nature's Alchemy by David Bacco. What makes these so amazing is not just the fact that they were almost too beautiful to eat, but they are also a melding and marrying of flavors. The Thai Peanut Butter for example starts off tasting like a really rich peanut butter cup...with good chocolate and a warm peanut flavor and then finishes at the back of your tongue with a nice burn that is familiar to all of those who love good Thai food. Sabe and I enjoyed the chocolates together and had fun analyzing the flavors and comparing our opinions of them.

Apparently there are different collections by season...so we will have to get more and try different ones ^.^ Sounds like the start of a good tradition to me ;)

Did I mention that I have the most awesome boyfriend ever? ;)
Sad Faces...

...the boy left to make his way home and hour or so ago. I am not a fan. The leaving and being left is very hard on both of us.

We did, however, have a wonderful weekend, even if it always seems too short.

We went out to a late lunch/early dinner at my favorite restaurant. We saw "Ponyo" with Sennyo and Jim. It was very cute... We all enjoyed it a great deal. We had pizza and watched "Grand Turino" which is a Clint Eastwood flick. It is excellent. I made breakfast burritos for brunch one morning and roast chicken and macaroni and cheese for lunch another day. We got a halter and leash for Hurricane Callie... and proceeded to try it out. She really enjoyed her first outing...that is until the neighbor fired up his lawnmower. She is a daring little thing.

We have an enormous spider that is building her web in the bushes next to our front door every day...so you could say we have a guard spider ^.^

I am not looking forward to going back to work in the morning. I am also not looking forward to having to wait another two to three weeks to see Sabe again. Next time I see him is the weekend of his birthday at the end of this month...

Hurricane Callie...

...had a vet appointment today. It is now one hundred percent established that the kitten is indeed a girl! She had her shots and was a very good girl about it all. She weighed in at 3.4 pounds.

We discussed spaying and the fact that she will not be declawed...so in a couple of months we are going in for surgery.

Had a great time last weekend at the social gathering that Christa and Lars invited me to. Lots of good conversation to be had. There were also some absolutely delicious vegan mini quiches.

Sunday I made corn chowder and the Saja joined us for dinner.

In the meantime I am just waiting for the days to pass until Labor day weekend. My boy will be here on Friday night and I can hardly wait. It has been almost three weeks since Gen Con. Our plans include an evening of gaming on Saturday...seeing "Ponyo" when we decide to fit it in...and lots of together time.

I am still trying to find out if my family is doing to cook out thing for the long weekend...we shall see.

In other big news...Sabe and I are in the process of looking at houses... ^.^

Do not poke the sleeping dragon...

...or dark mistress either ;)

I slept a lot today. Went to bed about 11ish last night slept until about 7:30 when the fuzzies all wanted their breakfasts. So I got up fed the woofs and let them take their morning constitutional, saw to Callie-cats feeding, and then we returned to bed. We slept until 10something had some Lucky Charms, called Sabe, chatted for about 45 minutes, and slept some more O.O I finally got up around 1ish and started some laundry. After my shower I headed out for some errands. Now I am sitting at home while Jim is napping in his room...lots of sleeping going on around here.

Going with Jim to a gathering at a friends house later...should be good times.

Tomorrow I invited the Saja over for dinner. I am making cheesy corn chowder. I also invited Morgan, but have not heard back yet from her.

Only a few more days and my boy will be here to spend some time with me ^.^ We are also making plans for the weekend of his birthday at the end of September. I am going to take that Friday off so we have another three day weekend to spend together. We are going to have a party for him on Friday night :)

Mmmm...I could almost take another nap o.O

Patience is a virtue...

...unfortunately one that I have only in short supply...or maybe I just don't have a patience gene :P

In any case it leads to frustration at times...

It has been a frustration-filled week in any case. Of course my main frustration is the work place. I am to the point where I have to force myself to get out of bed and go in in the mornings. *sigh* Add to that that I have numerous applications floating around to try and find a job so that I can move...and have seen little progress. Which of course leads back to my issues with being a patient girl... *just can not win*

I am also missing Sabe fiercely...and Labor day weekend is still over a week a way.

Another frustration is my constant financial struggle. It has been a bad couple of months financially. With the dogs needing vet visits and car insurance going up.

Add to that the fact that I went to college to get away from having to work places I am not happy and have choices when it comes to selecting a job...and here I am in a place that eerily reminds me of the exact place I worked that caused my return to school o.O

Stupid economic troubles :P

Uneventful weekend...

Just an average quiet weekend this week. Slow and relaxed. ^.^

Doing things like laundry, and bathing woofs. Brushed and entire litter of puppies out of Maeve's coat after her bath & I think there is another one still waiting to be brushed out this afternoon.

Slept in with the beasties this morning. Callie Cat was very good and adorable nuzzling and cuddling up to me. Mr P slept so heavily that he did not even notice when I got up...I had to go back into the bedroom to go get him ^.^

When we were at the vet's the other day to get the woofs their shots they confirmed the fact that P is slowly losing his sight. Not surprising for his breed. He is also hard of hearing and had another ear infection. He is on antibiotics and ear drops for the next ten days... There is already improvement, so that is good.

Other than that I am just waiting for Labor day weekend ^.^

Alien abduction?!

I was not abducted by aliens, just getting in touch with my inner geek ;)

Lets see...took a trip up to Madison the weekend of 8/13 with Lisa and Kim as they were heading up that way for a concert and to attend beerfest. I took the opportunity to hitch a ride so I could see Sabe. I brought Squirrel with me...She was the best kitten on those 5 hour drives there and home. Sleeping in my lap and playing with my fingers. She loved having the run of Sabe's appartment... The boy and I spend about 45 minutes one day contemplating her cuteness as Callie slept on the end of his bed in pretzel position. I got to meet more of Sabe's peeps which was fun :)

The following Thursday morning Kevin and I set off for Gen Con. The drive to Indianapolis took about 8 hours. We got there about four in the afternoon and Sabe met us at the hotel. I was rooming with him and his peeps and Kevin was off to find his rooming buddies. This was my first experience with a gaming con. I have been to Star Trek cons...I have frequented several Anime cons...but this was new territory. It is different from Anime related conventions as the age spread is more equal across age groups I have noticed whereas at Anime cons the age has been more and more biased toward a younger crowd. Gen Con offered a variety of things...there was a hotel which hosted events that were Anime related...I did not explore it, but it was around. The dealers room is huge, and the artist's alley was most impressive. There were some extremely talented folks there showing their stuff. There were a good amount of cosplayers about, both Anime and video game characters were represented.
We stuck to the gaming stuff which is why we were there. Sabe and I also spend a good amount of time together which was our other goal...as much togetherness as we could get ^.^ There were some fun games we tried out...and interesting people to talk to and meet. Got to try out "Escape from Tentacle City" which is a game designed by Sabe's friend Willow.
The gaming experiences I have had with Indy games so far have all been positive and enjoyable. I am looking forward to trying more games...

We had a splendid dinner experience the last evening we spend in Indianapolis as things were winding down from the weekend. Hilarity ensued and good times had by all. We finished the weekend with one last lunch together on Monday before heading out on the road towards home.

Here is a couple of pictures that Willow took of Sabe and I after lunch on the last day in Indianapolis.

Since I got home I have been trying to recover from my vacation...That seems to be the way of it...one takes a vacation and then time off is needed to recover.

The next time I get to see my boy is Labor day weekend. I can not wait....the days and weeks between visitis often seem endless!

Critters & Con Time
So since I moved my new room mate is my friend and fellow LJer jfboyd. This means that the woofs and my little squirrel cat also have a new feline room mate in the form of Jim's cat Trow. We have started introducing the two cats to one another...it was an interesting evening ;) Jim has made a nice post about it in his journal including a link to the many pictures that resulted from the meeting.

Starting tomorrow I am on vacation. This is the first time in many years I can claim this O.O I am headed to Indianapolis with my friend Kevin to go to Gen Con Indy...there I will meet up with my boy and we are going to spend the next 4-5 days geeking out together. This is the first time I am going to a con for gamers. I have been to anime cons and I have even been to a couple of Star Trek cons....Yep, I am a card-carrying geek.

I will post all about con fun after I return :)

So busy...

...just finished moving last weekend...then off to see my boy over the weekend that just passed. Loads of laundry waiting for me when I got home.

Internet is giving us issues...so repeated calls are being made. *sigh* They are coming out again tomorrow.

In all that I am completely in love with the new baby. Sabe and I have adopted a kitten from a litter that my cousin's cat had. She is precious! There will be pictures. Sabe has already posted one of her napping on his bed on this weekend on Facebook ^.^ I think he is pretty smitten with the little squirrel after getting to know her better over the weekend as well :)

This week I am off to Gen Con on Thursday. I am very much looking forward to geeking out with my boy for 4-5 days.

I am still trying to find a job in Madison...not too much luck so far, but I have sent of another application tonight and have a phone number to call in the morning.

Wish me luck ;)
